A little suspense. One lucky landing.
When to use a gift exchange wheel
Office holiday parties
Spin before each turn to decide whether the player opens, steals or swaps. It adds chaos to a white elephant that's dragged on too long.
Picking the theme
Spin for a gift theme a few weeks before the swap: "something blue", "handmade" or "under $20". People shop with more creativity when there's a prompt.
Family gift swaps
Load the family members' names and spin for the order. Kids stop arguing about who goes first when the wheel says so.
Book club swaps
Everyone brings a wrapped book. Spin to decide who chooses and whether they keep or trade. It works with any number of readers.

Get more from the wheel
- Add more "Open a new gift" slices than steals if your group is small, or the game stalls.
- Cap steals at three per gift. Once a gift is frozen, take it off the steal pool.
- Load names for turn order separately, then press Remove after each person spins.
- Set the budget wheel weeks before the party, not the night before, so nobody grabs a gas station gift.
Questions people ask
Can I use the wheel for Secret Santa?
It can pick a theme or a budget, but don't use one wheel to match givers and receivers. A single wheel can land you on your own name. Draw names separately, then use the wheel for the fun parts.
How do I run a white elephant with the wheel?
Everyone brings a wrapped gift. Spin for turn order, then on each turn spin the rules wheel: open, steal or swap. Play until every gift is opened.
Is it good for remote holiday parties?
Yes. Mail gifts ahead, share your screen and spin for each person. The theme and activities lists work just as well on a video call.
How many steal slices should the wheel have?
For 8 to 12 players, two steal slices out of ten keeps the game moving. Larger groups can handle three. If people start groaning instead of laughing, swap a steal for another open slice.
