Can ChatGPT pick a giveaway winner?

Why asking a chatbot isn't a fair draw

  1. It predicts, it doesn't roll

    A chat model picks each word from what's likely to come next. Ask it twice and you can get two different names, and neither answer shows how it chose.

  2. Long lists get cut

    Paste 2,000 comments and the model may not weigh every line equally, or may drop some when the chat gets long. You can't see which entries it actually considered.

  3. Running code helps, but stays private

    ChatGPT can run a random function on your list. That's random, but only you saw it run, so a follower who asks for proof gets a screenshot.

  4. Nothing to post

    Your followers want a link that shows the list was locked before the draw. A chat transcript isn't that.

Pick a checkable winner from ChatGPT or Claude

  1. Add the connector

    In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors. Add a custom connector with the URL https://mcp.perkadoo.com/mcp and approve it.

  2. Paste your entries

    Paste the comments or names into the chat and say how many winners and backups you need, plus any rules like two tagged friends.

  3. Ask for the winners

    The assistant calls Perkadoo's draw_winners tool. Perkadoo locks the list, draws with public randomness and returns the winners.

  4. Post the results link

    You get a results page and a share card. Anyone can open the link and rerun the draw.

What the assistant can't do

It can't pick a different winner because you'd prefer one. The draw is fixed by the locked list and the random number, and the results page shows both.

Without an account the connector is rate limited per network: 10 draws a minute and 200 a day. Hosted giveaways need you to sign in, and a person approves and draws them in the dashboard.

Is ChatGPT random enough to pick a giveaway winner?

Its pick might look random, but nobody can check it. For a prize, use a draw tool that locks the list and publishes the random number, so the result can be rerun.

Can Claude pick a giveaway winner?

The same applies. Add Perkadoo as a custom connector in Settings → Connectors and Claude calls a real draw instead of choosing a name itself.
