Facebook giveaway caption templates
Facebook Page posts have stricter entry rules than Instagram. These captions only use entry methods Pages are allowed to use.

Ready to post
Before you post
- No caption asks people to share the post, share to their timeline or tag friends to enter. Facebook's Page terms don't allow personal timelines or friend connections to run a promotion.
- Entry is a comment, a like or a reply on your Page's post, and the caption says which.
- The post says Facebook doesn't sponsor, endorse or administer the giveaway.
- Rules are in the first comment or linked, and they include the release of Facebook.
- You've decided how you'll handle duplicate comments and said one entry per person if that's the rule.
- The end time names a time zone, since Facebook audiences skew across states.
Make it work harder
Write for the comment preview
Facebook shows two or three comments under a post. Ask for something specific so those previews look interesting and pull others in.
Use a comment prompt locals can answer
'Favorite thing about our town' or 'best parking tip' gets more replies from a local Page than 'comment to win'.
Message the winner from the Page
Facebook winners often have message requests filtered. Comment publicly too: 'Congrats, check your message requests'.
Questions people ask
Can I ask people to share my Facebook giveaway post?
Not as an entry requirement. Facebook's Page terms say personal timelines and friend connections must not be used to administer promotions, and they give 'share on your timeline to enter' and 'tag your friends to enter' as examples of what's not allowed.
Can a giveaway run in a Facebook Group?
Yes, if the group's admins allow it. The same platform rules apply, so keep entry to comments on the post and add the line saying Facebook isn't involved.
How do I pick a random winner from Facebook comments?
Copy the comments or export a CSV, paste them into the Facebook comment picker, exclude your Page's own replies and draw. The results page shows the public randomness used.
